What does "refurbished" mean?

An item is refurbished when it is returned to us, Horizon Fitness, for any reason ranging from a scratch on the console to a malfunctioning motor. Our Quality Department replaces any malfunctioning parts with new, direct-from-the-factory parts, and thoroughly inspects the treadmill, elliptical or bike to make sure that it is working properly. The unit may have subtle cosmetic defects, such as minor scratches, but nothing that will affect performance.

Why are there new products in the clearance section? Are they really new?

The products labeled as "New" in the Clearance section are brand new in the box and come with a full warranty. They are usually closeout machines from previous production years.

What does "continuous-duty motor" mean?

A continuous duty motor measures the minimum horsepower delivered at all points during a workout, and is a commercial grade standard applied to treadmills used in health clubs and higher-quality home treadmills. Continuous duty motors are the highest quality available. They are more powerful, they last longer, and they deliver smooth performance.

Other measurements of motor power, including "peak duty" and, more commonly, "treadmill duty," are artificial horsepower measurements. They usually signify a lower-quality motor, and are found in lower-quality home treadmills. Peak duty motors measure power at the highest possible rpm with minimal load. But since an efficient motor is not going to run at this high rpm all the time, it is not an accurate horsepower measurement. Treadmill duty measures the likely horsepower for an average user at an average speed over an average period of time. But because it is an average, it is not a true representation of power.

Do the treadmills fold up for storage?

Most of the treadmills on the Horizon Fitness e-Store fold for storage. See the product descriptions for details.
